Psychotherapist
561 W Diversey Pkwy, Suite 205, Chicago, IL
Starting the process of finding a therapist can feel overwhelming. Let me share a little bit about myself and how I work, so that you can determine if I would be a good fit for you. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University and a Bachelor's degree from Bellarmine University. I am trained as both an expressive arts therapist and mental health counselor. What that means is that I often incorporate creative expression into the therapeutic process using writing, movement, and visual art. This can be really helpful if you have difficulty expressing your emotions and experiences verbally. As a trauma-trained therapist, I will work with you to create a safe space so that you feel comfortable as we begin this journey together. We all carry within us the innate ability to heal from life's stressors. I want to walk alongside you to discover your strengths and develop effective coping tools. I believe there is no ?one size fits all? in therapy and will work with you to determine which evidence-based approaches you connect with. I find passion in working with individuals who are seeking therapy for anxiety, depression, chronic pain and illness, relational and medical-based trauma, neurodivergence, and OCD.

What should a new client know about working with you?

An Integrated Care Approach: The human body is a complex unit. As a registered nurse, I have extensive knowledge in the area of chronic disease, autoimmune/rheumatic conditions and the body’s response to stress. Because of this background, I gravitate towards a holistic, integrative approach to therapy. This could mean coordination of care with practitioners from different modalities and communication with medical providers. Expressive Art Therapy: Expressive Art Therapy is a creative approach to counseling that incorporates various art forms to help clients in their therapy journey. You do not need to be an artist to try Expressive Art Therapy, as the emphasis is on the process of creating and not the finished product. This could include writing, movement, art making, or drama. I believe artistic expression can be a very healing experience, supporting clients as they overcome internal struggles and grow as people.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Experience: Most recently I worked in a trauma treatment IOP/PHP program with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD in both an individual and group setting. I also have inpatient and outpatient experience working with adults who struggle with substance use. In the past, I have worked as a registered nurse with adults in a community health clinic with chronic conditions such as diabetes, chronic pain, and auto-immune disorders. I am trained in Expressive Art Therapy, Somatic therapy/polyvagal theory, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness, CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD), ERP for OCD, and I-CBT for OCD. Licensure: As an LPC and Clinical Fellow, I am gaining the necessary experience and supervision to obtain my clinical license (LCPC). I am working under the supervision of Stefani Godina, LCSW.
