Getting to know Regina Blackstone

Please complete it within 48 hours of receiving it.** I’ve always been interested in making things better and finding what brings me joy. Whether that’s renovating my last two homes, finding just the right colors or texture for my garden, or simply rearranging furniture when I’m bored. I’m a huge fan of design, in case you couldn’t tell. There’s nothing like a nice, curated physical space that brings me comfort! Other things that bring me comfort- my two daughters, ages 21 and 16, my husband of 25 years, a 3 year old Boston Terrier and the game of pickleball. In addition to dreaming about my own HGTV show, I’m a licensed clinical social worker who has worked in the school setting for the last 20 years. I’ve watched countless students grow and develop skills to help them succeed. I’ve worked with countless families to help them navigate their children’s lives in and out of the school system. I’ve also seen countless changes in these years- specifically how technology, social stressors, and increasing anxiety affects children and families. I’m a graduate of Loyola University’s Master of Social Work program, member of the Illinois Association of School Social Workers, and trained in trauma-informed classroom practices.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Are you familiar with the quote “Handle hard better” by Kara Lawson? It was an immediate revelation for me. This single statement reminds me that life isn’t always easy- but that with the right support there is a way to handle life’s complications and challenges in a better way. My goal is to help you find your inner strength to handle hard better while gaining a new sense of peace and security when it comes to managing life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I love to see people change and thrive. Like any good ‘before and after’, I know that there’s a lot of work that goes into the in-between phase. I’m realistic about that, but also optimistic in my hope that you will realize your personal best. Your ‘after’ is possible with hard work and with strength-based, therapeutic support along the way. I will meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be. My aim is to help you feel valued in a supportive environment designed to help you find the best version of yourself.
