Walking into a therapist's office for the first time can be stressful and filled with uncertainty. Finding a new therapist you feel compatible with can be frustrating, often accompanied by understandable skepticism. I believe sessions should be grounded in non-judgment and a willingness to meet clients where they are in their readiness for change. My overall goal is to empower clients with awareness and strategies to manage life's situations and stressors. My name is Renee, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University. Early in my career, I provided in-home and community-based services to clients with traumatic brain injuries and disabilities for four years. I then transitioned to working in mental health partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient group (OP) programs-primarily group therapy settings. While I greatly enjoyed group therapy for the unique support it offers, I now focus on individual therapy for older adolescents and adults. I believe it is important to meet clients where they are in the process of change; therapy can feel overwhelming, and that is okay. My goal is to create space for non-judgment, active listening, feedback, and teaching coping skills. I have training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, Humanistic approaches, trauma-focused and trauma-competent care including EMDR, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, and strength-focused methods. One statement I often share with clients is: you will get out of therapy as much as you put into it. Regardless of any uncertainty you may feel, I encourage you to approach therapy with an open mind.
