Before I tell you where I went to school and what degree I have, I want to let you in on a secret: that voice in your head that questions your decisions, turns often benign events into catastrophes, and occasionally says nice things to you, has a name. It’s called your “inner dialogue.” An inner dialogue is an internal conversation composed of your thoughts. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already realized that sometimes people need help taming that voice inside their heads, which is where therapy can help. People need someone to assist in processing these thoughts, adjusting their mindsets, and coping with the pain that inner dialogue can cause. Friends and family can be extremely helpful, but only to a certain degree. I believe strongly in the power of the therapeutic relationship. People need to have a safe and objective person who has “no skin in the game” (so to speak), and a safe place to help evolve and become the best version of themselves. Using compassion and empathy, I strive to build a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. This unique alliance is based on trust, acceptance, and absence of judgment. This collaborative partnership takes place in an environment where clients are encouraged to explore their desire for healing and growth. This inclusive setting allows clients to take what they have learned in session and apply it to their everyday lives. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Adler University. Over the years, I have worked with individuals who have a vast range of mental health illnesses and disorders including depression, anxiety, life transitions, and occupational difficulties. I have also counseled hospice patients, cancer survivors, and their caregivers. My clinical orientations include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, and person-centered therapy.
