Getting to know Renisha Oubre
Hi there, I'm Renisha!
Congrats! This is the first step in your journey to healing; you've done the hard part, now breathe! Counseling is a collaborative process, and you, the client, are a full partner in this relationship. I specialize in working with humans (especially children, teens, and young adults). I work with individuals facing challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, borderline personality disorder, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. I am client-centered, so your journey will look different from another client's because your sessions and goals will align uniquely with you! So, are you ready? Let's start!
My approach
I will listen and try to understand things from your point of view. I will respect and protect your autonomy and self-direction. If I am unsure about anything, I will check for understanding with you. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you live in the present and may incorporate mindfulness as a tool to reduce stress.
My focus
I work with clients who have mental health issues including depression, PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and borderline personality disorder. My goal is to help you identify your challenges and build a toolbox of skills to maintain and grow individually. Together, we will create a success plan with goals tailored to your needs.
My communication style
I take a nondirective role in our relationship. I will listen actively and strive to understand your perspective. I respect and protect your autonomy and self-direction. I expect you to be honest, open, and sincerely motivated to change to maximize the benefits of each session. If you have suggestions or concerns about counseling, please share them so we can make adjustments.
I hold a Master of Education in School Counseling from Nicholls State University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support you effectively on your healing journey.
