Rhea Fletcher, LMHC

Psychotherapist
NY
I am a licensed mental health therapist and founder of Fletcher Therapy & Wellness. I specialize in helping individuals and couples unpack the emotional weight of their experiences—whether it’s trauma, anxiety, relationship struggles, or identity exploration—so they can reconnect with themselves and move forward with clarity and confidence. My practice centers on BIPOC healing, blending talk therapy with somatic and creative techniques for a holistic, grounded approach. My approach to treatment is collaborative, warm, and tailored to who you are, not just your symptoms. I blend evidence-based practices, such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapy, with culturally attuned, real-talk conversations that honor your lived experiences. Sessions may include guided reflection, body awareness, creative expression, and practical tools, all designed to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and aligned with your values. You don’t have to show up perfect, just real. We’ll take it from there, together. I primarily work with individuals and couples ages 8 to 80+ who are navigating identity, relationships, trauma, and emotional overwhelm. Many of my clients are BIPOC professionals or creatives who’ve been shaped by cultural and family expectations and are now seeking to reconnect with their authentic selves. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, communication issues, or past wounds, I create a safe space where you can explore, feel, and heal without judgment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My communication style is warm, direct, and affirming. I create a space where you can feel safe to open up while also gently challenging you to go deeper when needed. I balance active listening with honest reflection, so our sessions feel like a real conversation, supportive, collaborative, and grounded in growth. My journey to becoming a therapist was deeply personal and rooted in community. Growing up as a Jamaican American, I saw firsthand how cultural expectations, unspoken pain, and survival mode shaped people’s lives. I was always the one friends turned to for support, but I wanted to go deeper, so I pursued formal training in mental health, eventually becoming a licensed therapist. My work is both a calling and a commitment: to hold space for others the way I once needed someone to hold space for me. I help clients reach their goals by first clarifying what truly matters to them—then breaking those goals down into meaningful, manageable steps. Together, we explore patterns, process emotions, and build practical skills using approaches like EMDR, IFS, and somatic work. I regularly check in on your progress, adjust as needed, and celebrate your growth—so you feel supported, seen, and empowered every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A first session with me is all about building comfort and connection. We’ll explore what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and any questions or concerns you might have. I’ll share a bit about how I work, and together we’ll begin to map out a plan that feels supportive and manageable. You don’t need to have it all figured out, just show up as you are, and we’ll take it from there.
