No matter what challenges you're facing—whether personal struggles, uncertainty in the world, or simply the weight of daily stressors—it can feel overwhelming at times. I would like to support you and help you feel better about yourself and your situation. I would like to teach you tools to help you cope. I am very person-centered. I believe you are more than your issue. I want to treat a person, not a problem. I will ask you questions about your past, present, and what you want for your future. We will work on finding tools and approaches to help you cope, increase self-acceptance, and self-esteem. I have a lot of experience with the following issues: depression, stress management, anxiety, relationship issues, career challenges, addiction/substance abuse, and life transitions. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a down-to-earth person. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences with me as an empathetic partner. If we’re working through something challenging, you can expect me to be calm, patient, and non-judgmental. I have been on my healing journey for a long time, just like most of my clients. I have done the hard work and know how challenging that can be. I have become a wounded healer as Henri Nouwen, one of my favorite authors, describes in his book of the same title. He writes, "This woundedness can serve as a source of strength and healing when counseling others." I have found that to be true.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe that therapy is a partnership. Together, we’ll identify and set goals that matter to you, whether they focus on improving relationships, building self-esteem, or exploring past trauma. As we work together, your goals may evolve as you gain new insights. We can adapt our plan at any time to ensure it’s always meaningful and relevant to you. I’m here to provide you with the support and tools you need to continue to move closer to where you want to be, even when things feel challenging. Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll discuss your background and what brings you to therapy. Therapy is a process, and we’ll continue to build our work together over time. It’s completely normal to feel nervous about your first appointment. We’ll take it one step at a time, and I’m here to guide you through each step of the process.
