What should a new client know about working with you?

As a behaviorally oriented practitioner, I focus on the factors that maintain your referral behaviors. I have a focus on the here and now and spend time in treatment with you practicing new ways to behave and think. To help you maintain the behavior change you want to learn, I use social supports in almost all of my interventions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Syringe icon Assessment: The first session will be gathering the history of your concerns, some general background/medical history, and other information impacting your life. This usually takes 50 minutes. At the end of the session, I will be able to explain my conceptualization of your concern and review treatment options. Treatment: After the first few session, treatment begins. You and I will review your concerns and develop interventions to help with the particular concern you have. You will be given homework/assignments based upon the particular needs of your care. Things like journaling, tracking thoughts/feelings, or changing how you respond to situations. Sustainability: My goal for you is to be able to sustain the changes you make. After the more immediate treatment needs, we focus on how to maintain your changes. How to set up your environment to reinforce the changes you have made.
