What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist, I am equipped to support clients through their challenges using EMDR and a range of effective modalities. My expertise in addressing addiction, trauma, and mood disorders allows me to tailor treatment to individual needs, fostering healing and resilience in a safe, compassionate environment. It's truly brave of you to seek help, and that alone is a significant step towards healing. Remember, you're not alone in this journey—many have walked this path and found brighter days ahead. There is hope, and together we can navigate through the challenges. I encourage you to reach out; change is possible, and you deserve support on this journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In a typical session, I begin by creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. We usually start with a brief check-in to discuss any significant events or emotions that have arisen since our last meeting. For those engaged in EMDR, I guide clients through the process of identifying a target memory and associated beliefs that cause distress. We work together to develop a safe place and utilize bilateral stimulation techniques to help reprocess traumatic memories, allowing clients to gain new perspectives and reduce emotional charge. In dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), I focus on teaching skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. We often role-play scenarios to practice these skills in real-life contexts. Throughout the session, I encourage open dialogue, validating emotions, while guiding clients toward healthier coping mechanisms. The aim is to empower them to manage their challenges effectively and enhance their overall well-being.
