Getting to know Richard Hamrick

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker offering individual counseling for adults. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Montevallo in 2013 and obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama in 2015. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe environment aimed at facilitating personal growth, connection, and empowerment. I work with patients to identify and maximize their specific strengths in order to help facilitate long-term success. My primary therapeutic modalities include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I also have training in EMDR and am working towards certification. My experience involves the treatment of individuals struggling with substance use, eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief. I have a passion for working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, as well as individuals who identify as part of the kink and polyamory communities. My goal is always to provide a safe and supportive environment to everyone.
