Getting to know Rick Velez

Hello, I'm Rick. I believe people sometimes need help to reach their desired destination. Even though you may know where you want to go, it can be easy to get lost if you don't know the way. My job is not only to provide the tools you need for the journey but also to teach you how to actually use the tools. I will keep you focused on your destination every session. We will develop the map together in our initial sessions so you will know just what it will take to get you to where you want to go. I have been a therapist for 30 years and have clinical experience with a wide range of populations. I worked with youth for 15 years as a therapist and Program Director of several youth treatment facilities. For the last 17 years, I worked for the Department of Defense, living in six different countries and working with soldiers and their families on a variety of clinical issues. I specialize in military and veteran support, PTSD, addiction, anger Maleagement, anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, multicultural and diversity issues, stress, suicidal ideation and self-harming, trauma, traumatic brain injury, adolescent and teen mental and behavioral health, family relationships, and intimate and roMaletic relationships. With years of experience working with trauma (combat PTSD, sexual assault, domestic violence, child physical/sexual abuse), substance abuse, anxiety/depression, and multicultural issues, I am well-equipped to help you navigate your challenges. When you work with me, you can expect a collaborative and focused approach. I am here to support you, guide you, and provide the tools you need to achieve your goals. We will work together to create a personalized plan that addresses your unique needs and helps you stay on track
