Ricki Kern, LCSW - C

Psychotherapist
MD
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, and life transitions. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself while also working toward meaningful change. My approach is collaborative and practical. I believe therapy works best when it’s a partnership—I bring clinical insight and tools, and I stay open to your perspective and lived experience. Together, we’ll explore patterns, build coping skills, and find strategies that actually fit your life. I often use cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused approaches to help clients feel less stuck and more in control. Whether you’re overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or ready to make changes, I’ll meet you where you are. I welcome individuals from all backgrounds and identities and strive to create an inclusive space where you feel respected, heard, and supported. In our first session together, here's what you can expect Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so my goal in our first session is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and understood. I use a mix of structure and conversation. I’ll ask questions to learn more about what’s bringing you in, your background, and your current challenges—but in a way that feels natural, not like an interrogation. If you’re unsure how to answer something, that’s completely okay—we can take it at your pace. We’ll focus on what’s most important to you, including your goals and what you’d like to get out of therapy. If things feel awkward or heavy at any point, I’ll help guide the conversation so it feels more manageable. By the end of the session, we’ll identify next steps and begin building a plan so you leave with a clearer sense of direction. Most importantly, you can expect to feel heard, respected, and supported from the start.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
