Is finding someone who understands you a struggle? Maybe you've spent your whole life thinking that your brain is ?not normal.? It feels like your mind is constantly running. No matter how much you try to relax, you can't. Perhaps you feel like you've been forced to wear a mask to hide who you truly are. Hiding your needs and wearing the mask is exhausting. You're looking to open up to someone who doesn't judge you and listens to you. Neurodiversity can be an advantage when you are in the right environment, making use of your strengths instead of constantly trying to overcome problems. Teachers and caregivers often have to ignore their own needs in the moment to help take care of others' problems. Burnout and impostor syndrome are commonplace for most people at some point in their lives. Know that you are not alone! Pets can be an integral part of our lives. Mia, my cocker spaniel mix, inspired the name of my business, Healing Pause, PLLC. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, Salt Lake City, which has equipped me to support you in your journey toward healing and self-acceptance.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is a collaborative approach in which we work together on your goals and process your symptoms. I know what it's like to have anxiety, ADHD, and neurodivergence. I am a geek from cheek to cheek and love to game, read and craft. Eye Movement Reprocessing Desentization, EMDR, therapy is one of the frequent modalities I use. I also encourage working on solution focused goals and doing fun things to increase your enjoyment of life. Homework might be taking a walk, writing in your journal or app, getting a mani-pedi, or other self care. I have over 7 years of experience in Mental Health Counseling. I have over 14 years of experience working with children and teens as a former school teacher and child therapist. I have been a teacher for 10 years teaching High School and substitute teaching K-12. I am licensed in WA and Florida, am EMDR certified, and other trauma informed approaches. I am currently in the Spring Cohort for the Trauma of Money which will finish in June of 2024

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Being to embrace how your challenges have made you stronger! I work with clients who may be struggling with ADHD, depression, anxiety, or other traumas related to their lives. During our initial sessions we will focus helping you feel safe enough to drop your mask and feel understood. Many clients utilize Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy to relieve your symptoms. Come as you are. A hero’s journey always begins with a struggle, what's yours?—Superhero Therapy
