Getting to know Rob Jordan

Hi, I'm Rob Jordan, and I'm really glad you're looking into starting therapy! I provide online therapy to adults (18+) who live in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina. **Please note, as a licensed therapist, I am unable to prescribe medication.** Have you been telling yourself it's time to deal with your anxiety or wishing you could be done with those aggravating panic symptoms? Have you been putting off dealing with your past, hoping it would just resolve itself or go away with time, but it hasn't? Are you having a hard time adjusting to a new change in your life, such as starting a new job, beginning a new relationship, or starting college? Or maybe you just want an objective third party to talk about what's going on in your life, without fear of judgment or everyone knowing your business? If any of these questions resonate with you, I'd love to use the skills I've learned in my 20+ years in the mental health field to help you move forward in a meaningful new direction. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Using nonjudgmental questions, providing education about common mental health conditions, and combining talk therapy with the latest brain-based therapies (EMDR, Brainspotting, and Flash), I would be honored to work with you. I believe my role as a therapist is to use our working relationship and my clinical skills to help you unlock the answers and abilities you have within to chart your new course forward. Let's get started by scheduling an initial appointment where I'll gather information about you, and together we'll develop your goals for therapy. Whether this is your first time in therapy or if you've tried therapy several times before, I look forward to working with you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

To get started, we'll have an initial/intake appointment, which typically lasts about 60-75 minutes. During the intake, we discuss your reason for seeking therapy and I will ask questions about your symptoms and history. We will also discuss your goals for therapy before we end this first session. I usually recommend weekly therapy to start, in order for us to build some momentum and gain some traction on helping you achieve your goals. During follow up sessions, we will discuss any recent changes in your life, we'll decide on a topic for that session and we'll end with a few action items for you to try before the next session. Follow up sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long.
