Robert Berger, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Robert! My name is Robert Berger, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California Graduate Institute. I focus on a client's relationships and have done a great deal of work with anxiety, depression, and substance dependence. My approach I provide a safe space for people to feel things that have been hard for them to feel in the interest of reducing depression and anxiety. My focus In the last 25 years, I have met with a very great many people presenting with a vast range of complaints. I have never met anyone I was not comfortable with. Nothing surprises me on the one hand and on the other hand, I'm surprised every day. My communication style I think the word parity is a good word to use here. I know my job and how to do it. In spite of that, I think of my client and me as essentially equals. My journey to mental healthcare In the last century, I was a California Nurse-Midwife. It had started to dawn on me that the circumstances in which children are born could have an important impact on the way they experience the rest of their lives (i.e., in a warm dark environment and uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact with their mother for as long as practicable). The transition from my philosophy as a midwife to my 21st-century profession strikes me now, in retrospect, as logical and inevitable. My goals for you To be honest, I kind of have a tendency to deconstruct the goals and see where that takes us. My first session with you Clients should expect an explanation of my role as I see it and the beginnings of an inquiry about what it feels like being them.
