What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be yourself. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly, explore what's weighing on you, and build practical tools for lasting change. Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, your teen, or your family, we'll work together at a pace that feels comfortable and empowering. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and culturally responsive. I recognize that your experiences are shaped by many parts of your identity—including your race, culture, family, faith, gender identity, sexual orientation, and life experiences. As a Black, LGBTQ+ therapist, I'm committed to creating an affirming environment where you feel seen, respected, and supported without having to explain who you are. I combine evidence-based approaches with genuine compassion, helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, school challenges, parenting, developmental disabilities, identity exploration, and life transitions. Together, we'll celebrate your strengths, develop healthy coping skills, improve communication, and work toward meaningful goals that fit your life. As part of Everyday Superheroes Wellness Coaching's collaborative care model, I also work under the clinical supervision of Robert Judem-Cautin, LCSW-R, whose decades of experience provide additional guidance and support throughout your treatment. This team approach allows you to benefit from both a strong therapeutic relationship and experienced clinical consultation, ensuring you receive thoughtful, high-quality care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with getting to know you—not just the challenges that brought you to therapy, but also your strengths, relationships, values, and goals. You don't need to have everything figured out before your first appointment. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, nervous, or simply unsure where to begin, we'll take that first step together. During our first few sessions, we'll explore what's contributing to your current struggles and create a treatment plan that's personalized to your unique needs. I believe every person already has strengths worth building on, and together we'll focus on helping you move beyond simply managing challenges toward creating meaningful, lasting change. Each session is a collaborative conversation tailored to where you are that day. Some days we'll process difficult emotions and life experiences. Other days we'll build practical coping skills, improve communication, strengthen relationships, navigate identity or life transitions, manage anxiety or stress, and celebrate the progress you're making. My goal is for you to leave therapy feeling more confident, emotionally grounded, connected to the people who matter most, and equipped with tools you can use long after our sessions end. When working with children and teens, I partner closely with parents, caregivers, and, when appropriate, schools to support growth both at home and in the classroom. Depending on your child's age and needs, sessions may include play-based interventions, creative activities, skill-building, and family collaboration to strengthen emotional regulation, confidence, communication, and healthy development. Drawing on my experience supporting youth and families in school and community settings, I understand the importance of helping children thrive in every environment. As part of Everyday Superheroes Wellness Coaching's collaborative care model, Herman, MSW, works under the clinical supervision of Robert Judem-Cautin, LCSW-R.
