Getting to know Robert Turner

Hello, I'm Robert. There are times when you might find yourself lying awake at night, feeling frustrated by what life has given you or looking at your partner and wondering how things got so complicated. These moments can be overwhelming, but it's important to remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don't have to navigate these challenges alone; sometimes, you just need the right tools to achieve your goals. I'm here to help you find those tools. My journey towards counseling began in the 1980s when I worked in a hospital primarily focusing on sleep disorders. Initially, my role was centered around testing, but I quickly realized that many issues required a behavioral approach. This realization led me to further my training, and while serving as a guest lecturer at Stanford, I was encouraged to specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I completed my graduate training in 2007 and have since found great joy in working with couples, having completed Gottman Level II training to enhance my work with them. I primarily work with adults and some adolescents, focusing on cognitive behavioral approaches to foster improvement. My specialties include anger management, anxiety, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, gender identity, grief and bereavement, medical issues/physical health, OCD, phobias, sex and intimacy issues, stress, suicidal ideation and self-harming, depression, intimate and romantic relationships, and sleep disorders. Additionally, I offer SonderMind Video Telehealth for those who prefer or require remote sessions
