Robin Mathy, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I firmly believe that "It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried. It is they who know what experiences have been most profound. And it is they who must ultimately make the choices" (Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person). I bring my education in clinical social work (MSW, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities) and Evidence-Based Healthcare (MSc, University of Oxford), and my nonjudgmental, authentic, and empathic self to provide client-centered, evidence-based care in a safe space that supports you in becoming who you truly are. Begin therapy as you are and complete treatment with the ability to continue your independent journey to becoming the person you are striving to become. I work with clients ages 13 and up, with a special place in my heart for working with older adults. I specialize in working with people who have trauma histories, including foster care alumni, veterans with PTSD, and women with histories of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse or neglect. My practice includes (but is not limited to) working with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder. I offer trans, nonbinary, gender diverse, and LGB clients the opportunity to work with a bona fide international expert in LGBT mental health. I proudly provide gender-affirming care and recognize the impact of minority stress, including coming out, family conflict or nonacceptance, bullying, harassment, and discrimination at school, work, or in the community. Reach out to begin work with a caring, compassionate, and highly skilled therapist certified in trauma-informed care and telehealth. (Please note that telehealth is not merely an extension of face-to-face therapy, and you deserve a therapist who is certified in providing care via this medium.)
