Getting to know Robin Thurman

I have always been drawn to trauma and what it does to our lives, our emotions, and our quality of life. I have had my own experiences with trauma, and this search has brought me much relief. I want to do the same for others so they can achieve their goals without being held back or “stuck.” This is why I started this practice and partnered with like-minded therapists.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Robin is a University of Pittsburgh graduate with nine years of clinical experience spanning trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. She launched Empowerment Counseling in 2023 after years of witnessing and personally experiencing how trauma shapes our emotions, our decisions, and our quality of life. Her own healing journey showed her what’s possible when you stop feeling stuck, and she founded her practice to help others find that same relief and forward momentum. Robin is EMDR-trained and is currently working toward full certification, deepening her capacity to help clients process and heal from traumatic experiences. She also brings a specialized focus on adults navigating academic and professional challenges, helping clients break through the barriers that hold them back so they can achieve their goals at work, in school, and in life.
