“Don't miss out on working with Robyn! I've been working with Robyn for 12+ months. Her low-pressure approach to EDMR allowed me to overcome my initial hesitations, and I've seen more progress working with her than in several years of prior talk therapy combined. Robyn is a true professional. She is just as quick to offer a supportive word as she is to hold you accountable. Some might categorize Robyn's communication style as direct, but I consider it one of her greatest skills as a practitioner. Robyn's willingness to provide direct and clear feedback has allowed me to build trust and resulted in a very healthy and productive working relationship. All in all 10/10 recommend Robyn. The process of finding a therapist is daunting, and I'm grateful to have found such a wonderful provider. ”

“Don't miss out on working with Robyn! I've worked with Robyn weekly over the last 12+ months. Robyn's low-pressure approach to EDMR helped me overcome my initial hesitations and has proven to be more effective than many previous years of talk/cognitive therapy combined. Robyn is a true professional, just as quick to provide a supportive word as she is to keep you honest. Some might consider Robyn's communication style to be a bit direct, but I believe it's one of her greatest strengths as a practitioner. I have found it increasingly easy to open up and provide honest insight into my life due to her open style of communication. All in all, 10/10 recommend. Getting to know Robin Watkins

*I do not accept Medicaid or Medicare insurance.* For more than 10 years, I have been dedicated to providing quality mental health services using an optimistic and strength-based approach. I am a graduate of New York University with a master’s degree in social work. My specialized training includes three years at the Ackerman Institute for the Family and one year learning the cutting edge treatments for traumatic stress. I have extensive experience working at community clinics with adults, families, children, and adolescents. I have also worked with victims of domestic violence, in the foster care system, and in a hospital setting. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a teacher and a journalist. I am a mother of four children in a blended family. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, I see clients via telehealth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m here to extend my hand as you navigate through the intricate landscape of your journey. I understand the unique blend of anticipation and uncertainty that characterizes this time. The decisions about careers, the complexities of relationships, the pursuit of personal growth, and the challenges of anxiety and depression can feel overwhelming. My purpose is to provide you with support as you navigate these complexities and discover your own inner resilience. One of the cornerstones of my approach is the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. This innovative technique has proven to be transformative in addressing past traumas, current anxieties, and emotional burdens that may be impacting your well-being. EMDR therapy allows us to reprocess distressing memories and emotions, gradually diminishing their impact on your daily life, leading to a sense of empowerment and personal growth. Recognizing the profound impact of relationships on our lives, I can offer guidance on navigating interpersonal dynamics, enhancing communication, and fostering connections that contribute to your overall sense of fulfillment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First sessions focus on a detailed in-take evaluation to get to know what you're experiencing and to have a full picture of who you are currently and what has happened in the past. After this, we work together using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, insight-oriented psychodynamic practices, EMDR trauma therapy and mindfulness tools as well as unconditional positive regard in order to effect the impact of distressing feelings on your everyday life.

This is a difficult one, a nice enough person but I felt limited organization (had to provide my details multiple times despite it being on our communications), little clarity of expectation and pre-documentation provided to me. Perhaps my expectations were set to high as I went from a solid, extremely professional and organized out of network provider to try in-network as my insurance changed. Robin had little flexibility around a busy working, traveling professional, was unable to fully use the online tool on both calls. Had an abrupt style to ending sessions. Likely just not a good fit and I may have to go back to an out of network provider.

Robin is amazing. She provides me with real tools to deal with my struggles. She is balanced and calm, and she encourages me to make good decisions to change the things I don't like in my life. She's a total gem.
Robin was great- made me feel very listened to, understood, and seen, but I can also tell that she'll be able to call me on the things I need to improve on and some of the unhealthy thought processes or habits that I'll want to shift throughout treatment. Would highly recommend!

I felt that I was in a safe environment where I could share with a trusted counselor. Robin is a great listener who really does her best to relate to her clients. I will be returning for future sessions.
