Rodman Walsh, LMFT

Psychotherapist
700 N Pacific Coast Hwy, Ste 301, Redondo Beach, CA
My Background My own challenges and life experience have shaped me into the person and therapist I am today. There will always be opportunities to learn and grow, and I look for those moments in my own life each day with hopefully more awareness than the day before. My role as a therapist is to individualize sessions to help you navigate challenges in your life so you can move forward while seeing, feeling, and noticing progress. It's important for me as a therapist to meet you where you are and tailor therapy to your needs in a supportive, compassionate, and empathic way. I am active and engaging in therapy to best collaborate with you to meet your needs and goals while also challenging you in moments to assist you in working through issues and hardship. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide effective, personalized care. Who I Work With I work with patients trying to better understand themselves, their patterns, and relationships. I specialize in supporting those struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use and drinking, family issues, trauma & PTSD, relational challenges, stages of life & transitions, grief & loss, and uncertainty about the future. Relationally, I help individuals and couples build emotional tolerance and an understanding of their own emotions, set healthy boundaries, advocate for their own needs, and learn effective communication skills. Utilizing the resources and support around you is the path to reconnecting and moving forward rather than the loneliness and isolation of feeling like you have to do it all on your own.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use an eclectic, relational approach to therapy. I am engaging and collaborative while assisting you to gain better insight into yourself. I may challenge you at times in a compassionate way as we often change and grow the most when we embrace discomfort. I will incorporate different perspectives from attachment, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, family systems while assisting you with new tools and skills. My goal and hope with all my patients is to find new ways to heal, grow and move forward. I provide a 15-minute consultation for all new patients prior to first session and onset of therapy. This allows me to get some background information from you and answer any questions you may have.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I encourage patients to bring into the therapy areas of importance to them and to be reflective of how they would like to grow. Together we will explore recurring themes and find new tools and skills as needed to best assist you. I work organically with a focus on exploration and will structure sessions accordingly as the therapy develops.
