Ronald Hindbaugh, LPC

Psychotherapist
MI
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Bachelor’s Social Worker with a Master’s in Counseling from Western Michigan University. My 50-year career assisting others has included anger management, parenting training, troubled teens, and marriage and family therapy. I have worked for the State Department of Mental Health reforming institutions and for the Department of Human Services as a Protective Services Investigator. My approach Counseling is a trusting relationship, usually between two individuals. The counselor, because of training and expertise, provides information to help another address difficulties and find peace. The most effective method I have found is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). My focus I have worked with parents to help their children, troubled teenagers, and angry individuals in taming their temper. I have assisted developmentally disabled individuals and couples with marriage difficulties. As a former religious leader, I have also worked with people with spiritual concerns. Anxiety, depression, and adjustment difficulties are struggles we all face, and I have helped many clients address these issues. My communication style I cannot change anyone, so I view my relationship with clients—whom I see as noble human beings facing challenges—as a journey we take together. My journey to mental healthcare As a young science teacher, I wanted to learn about the world. One day, my principal asked if I would become a school counselor, as the junior high had no counseling program. He said I got along well with students and asked me to develop a counseling program. The rest is history.
