What should a new client know about working with you?

I hold firm to the belief that the therapeutic alliance is often the most valuable aspect of the work we do together. Though I use specific therapy techniques and exercises, I believe the relationship between therapist and client is essential to the success of our process, sometimes even more so than the rest. I tend to work best with individuals who value kindness and compassion. If you appreciate sensitivity, empathy, and humor—and if you are kind to animals—we may be a good fit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically start by building the therapeutic relationship. I want you to be as comfortable throughout the process as is possible. During and after initial assessments to determine your areas of concern, we then set goals for therapy; and we discuss various strategies meant to help you meet those goals. Throughout our time working together, I continue to explore and learn what you may need to help you to be your best self and live your best life. Here’s the truth, though: it’s not a one-size-fits-all sort of thing. I’ll bring my education, trainings, experience, and humanity to a collaboration with you to find what is uniquely your own best path forward.
