Rosanna Burden, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
My approach to counseling is strengths- and solution-focused. I have extensive knowledge of cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy techniques, as well as trauma-informed interventions and approaches. I also utilize mindfulness and narrative techniques to increase clients’ participation and awareness. I believe in the inherent worth of all my clients, and I aim to provide a feeling of safety and security during sessions while continuously challenging clients to reach their goals. I have experience providing individual, family, and group therapy. I primarily work with children and adolescents alongside their families in acute, crisis, and school settings. I help youth manage feelings of self-doubt and low self-worth, self-harm, anger management, identity issues (related to familial structures, LGBTQ, gender, economic status, and racial/ethnic affiliations), grief and loss, and mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. Most recently, I have worked with the geriatric population in nursing homes, focusing on grief and loss, life transitions, family engagement, and end-of-life issues. While these populations represent my core expertise, I also have experience with military members and their families (having been a military dependent as a child and currently a spouse), adults with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health concerns, and adults with acute mental health issues. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas, San Antonio, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of the Incarnate Word. My future goal is to become fully certified as an infertility counselor through the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Outside of counseling, I am a vocalist. I sang in choir throughout middle school, high school, and college, and I currently participate in the choir at the Unitarian Universalist Church of San Antonio.
