“I love how compassionate, kind and caring Rose is during therapy sessions. She understands Hispanic ideologies and the culture which makes everything we discuss more relatable to my situation. She is always striving to bring out the best in you, even in moments when you don't see them yourself and does so in a nurturing manner. Rose often asks questions that may be pressing or uncomfortable to answer, but it all comes back to questioning your train of thought and eventually, for growth.”

Getting to know Rose Garcia

Hi there, I'm Rose! I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 19 years of experience in the mental health field. I also have 10 years of experience working in street medicine with forensic and tri-morbid individuals. I'm passionate about supporting women and POC. I am invested in the course of my clients’ overall development in patterns of behavior and exploring what cultural and social constructs are interfering at this time. I like to work with individuals using my training in Narrative Therapy while focusing on cultural complexities. I am also comfortable using therapeutic models that support a strength-based, harm-reduction, trauma-informed, and holistic approach. I focus on relationships and other systems in which clients participate, such as family, culture, school, work, community, and society. I enjoy working with women of color and those working hard to break generational traumas. I believe some women suffer in silence and are self-sacrificing. These women deserve a safe space to express their needs and tell their stories. All women deserve a therapist who will act as their mirror and collaborator in cultivating self-love. I have experience working with severely mentally ill homeless individuals who taught me to show up as my true self. I actively listen to my clients’ needs, follow their lead, and ask multiple questions throughout our sessions. I am able to laugh at myself and be transparent whenever I am at a loss for words. I assure my clients that they have the power to ask for a timeout, pause for tears, or silence. I believe I have a friendly demeanor in session. As a first-generation Brown female, I became hyperaware of others’ behaviors toward me and the world. In 2003, I began my work in mental health as a B.A.-level Case Manager, working with children, families, CalWorks, and court-mandated teen parents. I earned my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, where I trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
