Ross Peery, MS

Psychotherapist
GA
I provide online therapy for adults and teens navigating anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in creating a supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and EMDR therapy to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and patterns. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so I tailor treatment to each person’s unique needs, goals, and experiences. Many of the clients I work with are high-functioning individuals who appear “fine” on the outside while internally struggling with overthinking, emotional exhaustion, self-criticism, stress, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others. Some of these individuals have tried therapy before, but haven't gotten the long-lasting change they desire. I enjoy helping clients build healthier coping skills, improve emotional awareness, strengthen self-esteem, and create meaningful, lasting changes in their lives. My goal is to help clients feel heard, supported, and empowered while developing practical tools they can use beyond the therapy session. I currently provide virtual therapy services across Georgia, offering flexible and accessible care from the comfort of your own space.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that I strive to create a therapy experience that feels genuine, supportive, and collaborative rather than cold or overly clinical. I believe therapy works best when clients feel safe enough to be honest about what they are experiencing without fear of judgment or pressure to be a certain way. My style tends to be warm, conversational, and practical. I balance emotional support with helping clients develop actionable strategies and insights they can apply in daily life. Some sessions may focus on processing difficult experiences or emotions, while others may be more skill-based and goal-oriented depending on what is most helpful in the moment. I also understand that starting therapy can feel uncomfortable or intimidating, especially for people who are used to handling things on their own. You don't need to worry about whether you're "doing therapy right," because we will learn our unique process together. A phrase I appreciate is, "Whatever comes up, we can use." Building trust takes time, and I work at a pace that feels manageable for each client. Clients who work with me are often looking not only for symptom relief, but also for greater self-understanding, emotional balance, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of direction and fulfillment in life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions are focused on getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and identifying what you would like to gain from therapy. We explore current stressors, emotional patterns, personal history, strengths, and goals while also discussing what approaches may be the best fit for your needs. From there, we work collaboratively to create a treatment plan tailored to your specific goals and experiences. Depending on the client, therapy may involve identifying unhelpful thought patterns, improving coping skills, processing past experiences, developing mindfulness and emotional regulation skills, improving communication and relationships, or working through trauma using EMDR. I aim to balance insight and self-reflection with practical tools that clients can use between sessions. I also offer recordings you can access from home to assist you with developing those skills taught in-session. I have many tools in my toolkit, and you'll have the opportunity to try out multiple tools to find the ones that feel most right to you. These tools help clients develop greater awareness, flexibility, confidence, and healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges. Throughout the process, I regularly check in about progress, goals, and what is or is not feeling helpful so therapy can remain both collaborative and personalized. Your feedback is vital throughout the process, because you know you best.
