“Ruth has been my Christian counselor for more than two years. During that time she has made me aware of so many things that go on mentally and spiritually inside me that I'd never recognize on my own. Ruth's ability to listen and analyze my issues with me is such a blessing. Her suggestions and counsel are second to none. Ruth's direct and transparent approach, with a sensitivity towards my needs, is something unique . In addition, Ruth professionalism is spot on. I'm always comfortable telling her anything and I never have to worry about confidentiality. Appointments are always held, and even in the hectic Ministry I'm in, we always communicate if there are schedule changes. All in all, I can say Ruth has been a huge reason why I've been able to succeed in this program and beyond. She also has guided me through many things that helped me draw closer the Lord and for that I will always be grateful.”

Getting to know Ruth Johnson

Hi there, I'm Ruth! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, and anger. I support adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about the future—whether you’re balancing career and personal life, processing difficult emotions, navigating relationships, or working to build greater confidence and self-worth. Together, we’ll explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck while developing healthier ways to respond to difficult thoughts and emotions. My goal is to help you build practical coping skills, increase emotional flexibility, and take meaningful steps toward the life you want.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My communication style is warm, empathetic, collaborative, and supportive. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and feel genuinely heard and respected. I’ll meet you where you are while also helping you explore new perspectives, recognize patterns, and take meaningful steps toward the changes that matter to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), along with Strengths-Based, Solution-Focused, Person-Centered, and Mindfulness approaches. Through ACT, I help clients learn how to make space for difficult thoughts and emotions without allowing them to control their choices. We’ll explore what matters most to you, identify your values, and work toward actions that align with the life you want to create. I also use CBT to help you recognize unhelpful thought patterns and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding. I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where we can focus on healing, personal growth, and meaningful change.

Empathetic without being enabling. Active listener. Cheerful and encouraging. Articulate. Knowledgeable and able to bring bible verses into most discussions. Patient and welcomes appropriate questions. Answers questions thoroughly. Well prepared. Helpful and makes additional helps known or available. Peaceful.
My visits have always been and still are very helpful for me. Ruth is a big help to me. I would recommend her to anyone that needs help.
