“The first thing we noticed about Tracey is how authentic she is. Tracey was very clear about the steps needed to address our issues and took the time hear and understand us. Tracey is very solution oriented and challenged to use the tools we were given. Tracey is also very flexible, as there were times when we needed to discuss specific events as opposed to the agenda she had planned. Overall, we couldn't more happy with Tracey. She has truly helped come a long way in marriage.”

Getting to know Ruth Tracey Hickmon

Are you feeling OVERWHELMED or STRESSED? Thinking, “I don't know how much more of this I can take!” Perhaps you feel hopeless from symptoms of depression; over-the-edge and worried from symptoms of anxiety; inattentive, fidgety, or hyper-focused from symptoms of ADHD; quick-to-click from anger; a salad bowl of feelings from grief; substance use that led to relationship or legal troubles; sorting through 50+ reasons why you should stay or leave an abusive relationship; or a person, place, or situation has triggered a trauma memory. I get it. I understand that any of these experiences is a lot to manage while trying to work, relate to your spouse or partner, parent, or care for ailing parents, and the tasks can go on and on. I already think you are pretty awesome for seeking assistance. So, let's partner and get to work. I am a Master's level, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a National Certified Counselor in Florida. I earned my Master's in Counseling from Webster University in Ocala. Since September 2015, I have worked with adults in a private practice setting. My approach is to offer clients the support, acceptance, insight, and guidance needed to process and achieve their desired level of functioning in a safe space.

What should a new client know about working with you?

For the first session expect to hear you tell me about yourself. There are some intake, forms, and information gathering that happens. This process allows me to learn and prioritize your needs so WE can form a plan and set goals. Since the first session is not typical, I will leave you with at least one technique to help you cope until the next session, where we work on your therapy goals. In the sessions after that, you can expect to feel heard; expect to be asked,” How are you feeling at this moment?” (I wish to hear your true feelings and not a politically correct response); expect to learn and practice coping skills and homework to strengthen new skills; expect to be challenged and lastly expect to change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I would have checked all 10 of the attributes above if it was possible. Tracey is warm and authentic with an easy laugh and great sense of humor. She is accepting (open minded) and solution oriented and focuses on challenging and empowering me to grow in all areas of my life (holistic). I am grateful to have met her and look forward to working together long term.
I havent had a therapist like her before. She doesnt just let me vent about all life problems. She allows me to bring up situations and teaches me how to handle them. She has taught me more than most have in the past. I really enjoy her personality as well. She is very nice and quick witted.
I love Ms. Tracey, she is always interactive with me. She is professional and does not shy away from the hard conversations that I need to have and areas I need to work on. She also has a great personality, very personable. She's the best.
