Dr. Ryan Feather, PsyD

Psychotherapist
3047 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL
I became a therapist because I’ve always been curious about people, how we make meaning out of our experiences, how we cope, and how we continue to move forward even when things feel overwhelming. Over time, that curiosity turned into a deep appreciation for the complexity of people’s stories and the courage it takes to face difficult parts of our lives. I have seen how powerful it can be to have a space where you don’t have to filter or perform, where you can show up as you are and feel genuinely understood. That’s what I aim to create in therapy: a collaborative, affirming space where clients can explore their experiences, make sense of patterns, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and aligned with who they are.

Getting to know Dr. Ryan Feather

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adults who are navigating a wide range of experiences, including anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, and life transitions. I’m especially drawn to working with individuals exploring questions around identity whether related to gender, sexuality, culture, or how different aspects of identity intersect. I enjoy supporting clients who feel stuck in patterns in their relationships or unsure of how to move forward in their lives. I also support individuals navigating the emotional impact of health-related concerns or other life stressors, and I approach this work with a holistic perspective. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply wanting to deepen your understanding of yourself, therapy can provide space for reflection, growth, and healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I approach therapy in a way that is flexible, collaborative, and tailored to each person I work with. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I aim to meet clients where they are and adapt our work to what feels most helpful for them. Creating a space that feels warm, genuine, and comfortable is really important to me. While we may be working through difficult or complex experiences, I value moments of levity and humor when they naturally arise. I see therapy as something we build together—a space to better understand yourself, make sense of patterns, and move toward changes that feel meaningful and aligned with who you are.
