Ryckel Franklin, LCSW

Ryckel Franklin, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NJ
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly six years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults ranging in age from 5 to 75. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from New York University, where I further developed my passion for supporting individuals through meaningful emotional growth and healing. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges, and I remain deeply passionate about helping clients experience meaningful growth, healing, and self-understanding. While I have experience working with clients across the lifespan, I primarily work with adults ages 18 and older who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, and patterns that may leave them feeling stuck or disconnected from themselves. I strive to create a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel safe to openly explore their experiences, emotions, and goals at their own pace. My therapeutic approach is integrative and individualized, recognizing that each person’s needs, experiences, and strengths are unique. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), mindfulness-based interventions, motivational interviewing, strengths-based therapy, person-centered therapy, and techniques inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS). I also value deeper emotional exploration and insight-oriented work to help clients better understand patterns, relationships, and internal experiences that may be contributing to current challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Above all, my goal is to create a space where clients feel genuinely supported, heard, and understood. Therapy can feel intimidating at times, but you do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, stress, major life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed by what life has thrown your way, I aim to walk alongside you with compassion, authenticity, and support as you work toward healing, growth, and a stronger connection with yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In addition to my professional experience, I also have both direct and indirect personal experience with mental health challenges and chronic illness, which allows me to bring a deeper level of empathy, understanding, and compassion into the therapeutic space. I understand how overwhelming, isolating, and emotionally exhausting these experiences can feel, and I strive to ensure that clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey. I understand that starting therapy for the first time — or even beginning again with a new therapist — can feel anxiety-provoking, and that is completely okay. My goal in the first session is simply to get to know you, understand what is going on in your life, and explore what you are hoping to gain from therapy. I approach each session with empathy, curiosity, and compassion, creating a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment. Therapy is a 100% judgment-free space where my primary goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered as you navigate whatever life may be throwing your way.
