What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means entering a supportive, structured, and goal-oriented space where your well-being is the priority. I bring over 20 years of clinical experience, and as a combat veteran, I offer a grounded, real-world understanding of trauma and resilience. I use evidence-based approaches — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, and the Gottman Method for couples — to help you gain insight, build coping strategies, and make meaningful changes. Therapy with me is collaborative: we’ll set clear goals together, and I’ll provide tools, feedback, and guidance to help you move forward. I'm direct but compassionate, and I value honesty, commitment, and readiness to do the work. If something isn't working, we'll talk about it. I also offer psycho-diagnostic testing when deeper assessment is needed for clarity and direction. Whether you're managing trauma, depression, anxiety, or relationship struggles, I tailor treatment to your unique needs, and I’ll meet you where you are — with respect, professionalism, and empathy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My Typical Process for Working With Clients My approach is structured, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s needs. Here's what you can expect when we work together: Initial Consultation / Intake We start with a comprehensive initial session where I gather background information, clarify your concerns, and discuss your goals for therapy. If needed, I may recommend psychological testing to gain deeper diagnostic clarity and inform treatment planning. Assessment and Goal Setting In the first few sessions, we’ll focus on identifying patterns, symptoms, and strengths. Together, we’ll establish clear, achievable goals and a plan for therapy. This may include specific tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology strategies, or the Gottman Method if you’re seeking couples work. Active Treatment Phase We begin working toward your goals with evidence-based strategies. Sessions may involve skill-building, cognitive restructuring, emotional processing, or relationship interventions, depending on your needs. For couples, this includes structured assessments and communication exercises drawn from the Gottman Method. Monitoring Progress Throughout therapy, I check in regularly to assess what's working and what needs adjustment. Therapy is a two-way process — your feedback helps guide the work, and I remain transparent and engaged in your progress. Transition and Maintenance As goals are met, we discuss reducing session frequency or transitioning to maintenance or check-in sessions. For some, this is a natural endpoint; for others, occasional follow-ups help sustain growth. Optional Psychological Testing If additional insight is needed (for diagnosis, treatment planning, or external purposes such as school or work accommodations), I offer comprehensive psycho-diagnostic testing using validated tools.
