Getting to know Sabeen Bhimani

You completed rehab, PHP, IOP, or substance abuse treatment with commitment and determination. You learned the tools, followed the structure, and worked hard to build sobriety. Yet after treatment ends, many people discover that maintaining recovery in everyday life can feel far more emotionally overwhelming than expected. Without the routine, accountability, and support of treatment, long-term sobriety can begin to feel fragile. You may still struggle with relapse fear, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, loneliness, shame, overthinking, or feeling disconnected from yourself even while remaining sober. Others around you may expect you to be “better now,” while internally you are still trying to figure out how to live life after addiction in a stable and meaningful way. I specialize in therapy for adults navigating life after addiction treatment, helping individuals strengthen emotional sobriety, relapse prevention, identity rebuilding, and long-term recovery stability. My work focuses not only on staying sober, but on helping clients create a life that feels emotionally grounded, purposeful, and sustainable. Together, we work on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, reducing cravings and triggers, rebuilding self-worth, healing shame and codependent patterns, strengthening relationships, and developing healthy structure, accountability, and routines that support recovery in daily life. My approach integrates relapse prevention therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, self-compassion work, and evidence-based behavioral approaches. I also incorporate spirituality and a multicultural perspective that honors each client’s lived experience and identity. Recovery deserves more than maintenance alone. It deserves transformation, emotional freedom, and the opportunity to fully engage in your life again. You do not have to navigate life after addiction alone. Reach out today to schedule a free 15-minute consultation and receive a same-day response.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many individuals leaving rehab, PHP, or IOP do not realize how much the structure of treatment was helping regulate their daily life. Treatment often provided accountability, routine, emotional support, and stability that can feel difficult to recreate independently. My approach to addiction recovery therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I meet clients where they are emotionally and help them strengthen the internal foundation necessary for sustainable long-term sobriety. Therapy is not about perfection or judgment. It is about building self-awareness, emotional resilience, accountability, and a recovery lifestyle that feels authentic and maintainable. I combine relapse prevention therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, emotional regulation strategies, and self-compassion work to support ongoing recovery and emotional healing. I help clients navigate: relapse fear and trigger management anxiety and overthinking in sobriety emotional overwhelm and burnout shame and self-criticism codependency and relationship challenges identity confusion after addiction treatment maintaining accountability outside treatment rebuilding confidence, purpose, and emotional stability As a first-generation South Asian American therapist, I also understand the cultural stigma surrounding addiction and mental health in many communities. I strive to create a culturally sensitive and nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood and supported. My goal is to help clients move from fragile sobriety toward deeper emotional stability, self-trust, and sustainable recovery.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together is collaborative from the beginning. I believe you are the expert of your own life, while my role is to provide clinical guidance, emotional support, accountability, and insight to help strengthen long-term recovery and emotional stability. We begin by creating an individualized recovery plan focused on your goals, emotional needs, relapse prevention strategies, and long-term vision for sobriety. Together, we build practical recovery skills such as craving management, trigger coping, emotional regulation, mindfulness, healthy boundaries, accountability, stress management, and sober routine development. As therapy progresses, the work expands beyond simply learning recovery tools and begins focusing on integration applying those skills consistently in everyday life, relationships, work, and emotional functioning. Many clients enter this phase asking: “How do I actually live life sober?” “Who am I without substances or survival mode?” “How do I maintain recovery without constant structure?” Therapy becomes a grounded space for mindfulness in recovery, emotional processing, self-reflection, and rebuilding trust within yourself. We focus on recognizing early signs of emotional, mental, relational, or spiritual imbalance before they escalate into relapse patterns or self-destructive behaviors. A core part of my work is helping clients strengthen emotional sobriety not just abstinence. Together, we build greater self-awareness, resilience, purpose, and alignment so recovery feels stable, intentional, and sustainable over time.
