“I’ve worked with Sadia for almost two years. She is both knowledgeable and professional while warm and personal. I appreciate that she takes the lead on recommending modalities like EMDR and also brings a background in 12 step programs to our work. She also is down to bring justice and feminism into our framework which is important to me. Also, she has been supportive in helping me navigate insurance changes and varying needs in terms of frequency of sessions. Cannot recommend her enough! ”

Getting to know Sadia Zaman

Welcome to what could be a truly life-changing journey for you. As a clinical therapist with a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Lehman College, CUNY, my goal is to provide a collaborative environment where we can explore the internal and external areas of your life and find ways to cultivate more balance and harmony.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have over 7 years of working with clients who have experienced trauma both in childhood and adulthood, complex trauma, racial and other forms of systemic trauma. The symptoms I have worked mostly with include depression, anxiety, procrastination, struggle to focus, various forms of addiction and compulsive behaviors and low self esteem. I have over 7 years of working with clients who have experienced trauma both in childhood and adulthood, complex trauma, racial and other forms of systemic trauma. I symptoms I have worked mostly with include depression, anxiety, procrastination, struggle to focus, various forms of addiction and compulsive behaviors and low self esteem. If any of these resonate with you please do not hesitate to reach out and we can schedule a consultation call to talk more about what working together can look like.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I am certified in EMDR and trained as a level 1 IFS practitioner, both of these inform the way I work with clients. My understanding of the therapeutic process include a combination of identifying the causes and consequences of life experience and also the ways in which our body (particularly our nervous system) responds to these life experiences. I draw heavily from polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing using a trauma informed framework to develop coping mechanisms and in many instances trauma processing.
