What should a new client know about working with you?

Trauma is stored mentally and physically inside of us. It is not something you can just "get over". You may try to forget it, but this only provides, at best, temporary relief. The path to healing is not through removing the pain of the trauma, but rather through understanding and developing a healthy relationship with it. This is not easy, and can often be long and frightening process, but it can lead to not only a reclaimed sense of self-worth, but a healthier and more fulfilling relationship with the world around you. If any of this resonates with you, we may work well together on your journey to healing and wholeness. I have skills to work with a wide variety of mental health concerns, though I am particularly effective in working with trauma. I pull from a plethora of therapeutic modalities and techniques, though have a strong base in psychodynamic, gestalt, and existential psychotherapy. I rely heavily on the therapeutic relationship being at the center of treatment. I invite any individuals interested in discovering a more cohesive understanding of themselves, their past and current experiences, and their place within the world to reach out to me. I am excited to join you in this journey of healing and growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I focus heavily on the therapy relationship as a source of understanding you and your experiences better. I explore the experience of the therapy relationship with you during sessions. I may also encourage you to give voice to different parts of your experience and role-play between parts of your identity. I do not shy away from silence, and consider it as just as important a voice as any other.
