Psychotherapist
FL
Hi, I’m Sakena — a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I’m the big sister you’re not afraid to talk to, and the therapist who understands the pressure of being the strong one. Before becoming a clinician, I spent almost a decade in corporate tech, so I get the grind, the burnout, and the weight of high expectations. I work with high achievers, first-gen professionals, people-pleasers, and those navigating relationship patterns, identity shifts, anxiety, and burnout.

Getting to know Sakena Whilby

Hi, I’m Sakena — a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I’m the big sister you’re not afraid to talk to, and the therapist who understands the pressure of being the strong one. Before becoming a clinician, I spent almost a decade in corporate tech, so I get the grind, the burnout, and the weight of high expectations. I work with high achievers, first-gen professionals, people-pleasers, and those navigating relationship patterns, identity shifts, anxiety, and burnout.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach blends narrative therapy, somatic work, mindfulness, and practical tools to help you create real change. Our early sessions are dedicated to understanding the people, places, patterns, and seasons that shaped you. Like reading the first chapters of your story, I want to know how you became who you are… and what you want the next chapter to look like. I’m warm, direct, and deeply supportive. I’ll call you out kindly, hold you accountable, and create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest , maybe for the first time. I believe therapy should feel like talking to someone who gets you and also challenges you. This is a space for clarity, compassion, insight, and action.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients often tell me they feel lighter after our very first session, like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders. Many say they’ve never felt so seen or understood. During our first session, I’ll focus on getting to know you not just your symptoms. I want to understand the roles you’ve had to play, the expectations you’ve carried, and the parts of yourself you’ve learned to hide. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. We’ll move at a pace that feels grounding and safe. This isn’t a passive space. I’ll offer steps, reframes, and real-life tools you can take with you.
