Dr. Sakinah Rasheed, PsyD

Psychotherapist
GA
I entered this profession because I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I wanted to understand why people think and behave the way they do. However, as a compassionate person, to alleviate suffering and to help individuals heal from distress, sadness, and trauma, these are my passions. I help teens and adults, including elder adults. I achieved a PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Michigan in 1981. In an effort to complete the highest level of clinical training in my field, I completed a PsyD in Applied Psychology from The Graduate School of Applied Professional Psychology at Rutgers University in 1984. I became licensed as a psychologist in 1989, and I have worked in a variety of private and public sectors. I have provided the full range of psychological services including psychological testing and assessments. However, my current practice consists primarily of providing psychotherapy online, specializing in individual, family, and group modalities from cognitive behavioral and positive psychology perspectives. I am a creative and artistic person by nature, and in a sense, psychotherapy is itself an art. The practice of it must be tailored to your needs, and it is a collaborative process in which my clients each participate. I have helped my clients overcome depression, learn to manage stress, and improve in managing their reactions to stressors in the environment. I have assisted couples and individuals in relationship resolving relationship dilemmas, and to heal from the pain of losses. If you see yourself in any of the descriptions I have given here, I would love to welcome you to my practice!
