Getting to know Sally Harrett

I am a clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience treating individuals, couples, and families. I am licensed in both Michigan and Florida. It is of utmost importance to me to approach each client with compassion and understanding unique to their individual circumstance. Providing effective counseling is a cornerstone of my philosophy. I received my undergraduate degree in Sociology from SMU in Dallas (with a Minor in Women's Studies), and my Master's degree in Social Work from Michigan State University. Before becoming a therapist, I worked with a diverse population addressing issues such as trauma, community organizing, and mental illness. Throughout my career, I've been committed to assisting every client in reaching their goals and improving their life. My approach to treatment is eclectic, as is every new client I meet. Some common approaches I use are Cognitive Behavioral, Insight Oriented, and Supportive Therapy. Most people enter therapy because they are in crisis, dealing with long-term anxiety and depression, or simply need a place to express their feelings. It's important to me to provide an atmosphere that is safe and non-judgmental for any issue that brings you into counseling. When not working, I get a lot of movement by either swimming or playing Pickleball. Don't be surprised if I bring these up as recommendations for reducing stress!
