Getting to know Salonia Husson

In my practice, I work with adults who are looking to address cultural identity, anxiety, self-esteem, family conflict, career transitions, breakups and dating, intergenerational trauma, childhood trauma, and life transitions. I also specialize in working with couples, including premarital, intercultural, new parents, trust issues and infidelity, divorce mediation, parenting, and intimacy or sexual concerns. I have a particular focus on supporting people of color and those who identify as bicultural. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University, which informs my approach to helping individuals and couples navigate their unique challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to help provide you with real tools to live your best life. My approach is direct, sincere, and scientifically backed. I see my client’s life and relationship experiences through a trauma informed and culturally sensitive lens.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the beginning phases of therapy we will promote gaining insight and awareness, we will explore the impact that your childhood modeling and upbringing has had on the narratives and beliefs you carry with you today. We will then move into a solution oriented and change focused phase, during which we will unlearn and relearn healthier coping strategies and skills to improve your life and your relationships, we will also rewrite the story of your life to promote mindset and perception shifts. I aim to connect you more deeply with yourself, your partner, your loved ones, and habits. My approach varies according to your unique needs but will always pull from psychodynamic, narrative, cognitive behavioral, family systems, and relational theories.

Seeing and continuing to see a therapist takes work - time, $$, and effort. Salonia makes all three worth it and valuable. Salonia has been the best therapist I have seen - providing a safe place for vulnerability, encouraging and celebrating growth, leaving room for grief, and listening deeply while also providing direction. She has helped me heal relationships, deal with loss, and grow personally and professionally.
I started seeing Salonia last year and in my couple months of working with her I have noticed a significant and positive difference in my mental health. She really makes me feel seen, understood, and heard and I always feel so comfortable in our sessions. I really do believe that the growth I have achieved as a person is due to my sessions with Salonia. I highly recommend Salonia as a therapist.
My wife and I have only started our marriage/parenting therapy journey with Solania, but already we are seeing results and are on a path to a better partnership. Both of us feel grateful to have found Solania and could not recommend her enough.
I’ve had a very positive experience with Salonia. She is knowledgeable, patient, and truly attentive. Her guidance has been incredibly helpful, and I’ve gained practical tools and insights that have supported meaningful progress. I consistently leave sessions feeling supported and encouraged.
Salonia is amazing! I consistently feel seen and heard and safe enough to share all of my deepest insecurities and fears and leave therapy feeling positively challenged and affirmed. From the very first session I felt really comfortable and supported. I highly recommend her!
Salonia is absolutely fantastic. Saved our marriage and has stuck with us to keep improving it and ourselves individually. Can’t recommend highly enough.
love working with Salonia!!!
I’ve been working with Salonia for nearly four years, and she has been instrumental in helping me navigate various life challenges. Aside from her cultural awareness, one of the qualities I appreciate most is her remarkable ability to recall conversations from the past and make meaningful connections to current topics of discussion. This has provided me with deeper insights about myself and played a pivotable role in my growth. Salonia’s non-judmental approach creates a space where I feel heard, seen and at ease. She has an intuitive balance of meeting me where I am, while guiding me towards self-acceptance or finding my own answers within. I can continue to use and revisit many of the tools and techniques she’s offered. They have made a huge difference when challenges inevitably arise and just in day-to-day interactions with people. I’m so grateful I found Salonia and highly recommend her.
I have been seeing Salonia for over 2 years and could not recommend her enough! As a South Asian, it has been incredibly comforting and validating to work with someone who truly understands my cultural background and the nuances that come with it. Salonia's support has been transformative for me and I am so thankful for her guidance.

Salonia is truly by far the best therapist I've ever had. She manages to take all of my issues and reframe them for me in a positive or constructive way. Many of our sessions leave me with a better growth mindset about whatever relationship or career obstacle I'm facing. She's incredibly good at balancing encouragement with direct honesty in our sessions, something that has also shaped how I communicate with others. Also, she remembers small details about my life and is able to bring them up as context throughout our sessions if they're helpful. It's that kind of care that makes her a great therapist!
I saw a handful of therapists before finding Salonia, and am so happy that I will never need to find another therapist again. I've been seeing Salonia for a few years and couldn't recommend her more. Her approach is highly empathetic, and she's very well read so she's able to provide resources for continued learning and improvement outside of sessions. I was in a very dark place when I first started seeing Salonia. And week by week, over several years, we've worked on topics of identity, depression, inter-generational trauma, and much more. It's been incredibly helpful, and I'm now much healthier, happier, and feel more comfortable with myself. To Salonia: thank you for everything. And to anyone looking for their therapist: look no further! Salonia is incredible!!
I have been seeing Salonia for over 4 years, and she is such a crucial part of my mental health. She has given me tools to get me out of some really low periods, and even when things are going pretty well and I think I have nothing to talk about, she is able to identify areas where I can grow even further. I really appreciate that she is able to talk to me on a clinical level and give me the insight that her training brings, but she also understands my cultural and spiritual experience, which is very important to me and plays such a large part in my life. Her input never feels judgmental, and she has such a caring way of communicating. I always feel better after my sessions with Salonia and can truly say I am a stronger, more self aware, and happier person because of my time spent with her.
Salonia is absolutely wonderful. She is incredibly attentive and has really helped to steer my emotional mindset towards a more positive state of living.
Salonia is absolutely fantastic! She hears me and is able to help decipher my emotions in a clear way - always prioritizing my mental state and helping to drive actionable solutions.
Salonia is incredible. It is obvious she is intelligent, caring and knows what she is doing when it comes to helping people. I highly recommend her!
Salonia is amazing! She has truly been a lifesaver for my husband and me. Every time we see her, we leave feeling better and with more tools to tackle issues in our marriage. We both look forward to our appointments with her because we make so much progress in each one all thanks to Salonia!
I look forward to my sessions with Salonia every week and consider the time a gift to myself. She always brings calmness and clarity to my hectic life. Salonia has a great way of guiding with compassion and reflection that has been transformative for me. I’d highly recommend Salonia to anyone seeking to prioritize and improve their mental and emotional health.
