I'm drawn to working with people standing at a crossroads. Sometimes it's after a loss. Sometimes it's the beginning of something new. Sometimes it's because the life that once fit, doesn't anymore. Grief, parenthood, career changes, trauma, relationships, identity - these moments can leave us asking difficult questions: Who am I without this person? Who am I now that I'm a parent? Who am I if I leave this career? Who am I if I'm questioning my sexuality? Therapy can be a place to explore these questions with honesty, curiosity, humor, and compassion. My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and evidence-based. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, and person-centered therapy, believing that meaningful change comes from both practical tools and a relationship where you feel safe enough to be honest, curious, and fully yourself.

Getting to know Sam Tunis

I'm drawn to working with people standing at a crossroads. Sometimes it's after a loss. Sometimes it's the beginning of something new. Sometimes it's because the life that once fit, doesn't anymore. What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist, I take the work seriously, but I don't think that means we have to take ourselves seriously all the time - there is absolutely room for humor. Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years as a musician, performer, visual artist, and educator, and my creative life continues to shape how I listen, connect, and approach each person's story. I'm also a mom, and understand the struggles facing new (and seasoned) parents.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I welcome adults and young adults of all backgrounds, with a particular interest in grief and bereavement, parenting and postpartum adjustment, queer identity, identity shifts, relationships, career changes, chronic illness, caregiving, and the transitions that reshape our sense of self.
