Getting to know Sam Wilde

My therapeutic offering is for the misfits, weirdos, and people who don't fit into the little boxes they were put into at birth. People have told you who you are supposed to be your entire life. My offering is a space within which you can test the waters about revealing who you actually are. Together, we can build the relational safety that is necessary for your nervous system to relax and give you the tools to build up your sense of confidence and empowerment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach is rooted in somatic therapy, which means, for example, that I may ask what you are noticing happening in your body as we talk in session. This is often really vulnerable so I make sure that the client consents to incorporating body-based work before doing so and we always move at the client's pace. Generally speaking, my own pace is somewhat slower and I may not be a good fit for those who need a faster pace. I am autistic, ADHD, and nonbinary and love working with clients who are neurodivergent and queer as well.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will start with an intake session, where we discuss your history and what is bringing you into therapy. Together, we will create a treatment plan with goals and discuss diagnosis. From there, the sessions will be tailored to your goals and needs. Some clients like to verbally process, some prefer experiential methods, some want to practice coping skills, and all of these are valid. I am a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist, which means we can incorporate movement and tending to the body in sessions, if desired.
