Samantha Navarro, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello! My name is Samantha Navarro, and I’m an LCSW with a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, San Bernardino. Therapy should not be about a therapist's agenda; it’s all about the client! This is why I like to explore what the current problems or issues are and what goals you want to create from there. Sometimes other goals may be needed, but not everyone is ready to address them at that moment, and that is okay too! I focus mostly on empowerment, positive psychology, strengths-based, and client-centered approaches. I also dabble with other methods because every client is different and may need something unique. I have experience working in an outpatient substance use clinic with the addict population, those suffering from anger management issues, and children and adults affected by CPS cases. I also have experience working with populations experiencing homelessness and severe mental illness, and I’m currently working in a K-8 school district. My job is to make sure you have a space to be open and honest in a world where we usually can’t get that from family and friends. My sessions are aimed to be comforting and empowering, and after we’ve built a healthy therapeutic bond, I will also be direct as well as supportive if I see unhealthy patterns. The first reason I moved into psychology and specialized in addiction was because of my personal experience with a parental addiction. I realized I was really good at being nonjudgmental and giving people space to open up. I also had a ton of empathy and understanding, which made being a therapist the perfect career!
