Getting to know Samantha Skvaril

I strongly value relationships and utilize a client-centered approach with everyone who walks through my door (or enters the Zoom call during these times). I also value collaboration, which means that we will work together throughout your therapeutic journey. I am open and honored to hear feedback from clients so I can best meet their needs. I am cognizant that systems of oppression are present everywhere, even in the therapy room. As a white therapist, I am committed to the ongoing antiracism work needed to address how these systems impact my own work on an individual level and systemically. I view therapy as a partnership and want my clients to feel safe and open when in my presence. The client is the expert in the room. While I certainly want to explore challenges, I also want to lean into clients' strengths and meet them where they are at. I enjoy being real and honest with my clients and will often challenge them throughout our sessions together. You will often find me pulling from several different therapeutic modalities including DBT, ACT, Trauma-Informed Mindfulness, and harm reduction. I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Roosevelt University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support clients effectively on their healing journeys.
