Getting to know Samantha Sundborg

*Please Expect a Phone Call from our Office - Resilience Therapy - to confirm your scheduled appointment request.* I work with teens, college students, and young adults who are carrying more than they let on, whether that be socially, academically, professionally. There's a lot of pressure to look like you have it together, even when things feel genuinely hard, and I'm here for the version of you that's tired of pretending. My clients range from teens navigating intense academic and social pressure to adults who are burning out faster than they expected. What they tend to have in common is that they're smart, they're doing a lot, and they've hit a wall. Whether that's anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, relationship struggles, PTSD, or just a creeping sense that they're not living the life they want, we’ll work together to get it back on track. Sessions with me are active and collaborative where I won’t simply reflect back what you say, but I’ll help connect the dots.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I support clients who feel the constant stress of "performing" while feeling disconnected or hollow underneath. I specialize in anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, trauma, and adolescent and young adult mental health, and I've worked with clients navigating ADHD, life transitions, grief, mood disorders, and the specific kind of loneliness that shows up even when you're surrounded by people. One thing clients consistently say is that they leave sessions with something they can actually use. This might be a new perspective, a concrete strategy, or a way of thinking about something that finally makes it feel manageable. I'm also experienced working specifically with teens, which means I know how to build trust with young people who are skeptical at first. Parents: I'll keep your teen at the center of the work and keep you appropriately in the loop.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start by understanding your world. This means seeing the full picture of what your life looks like, what's working, and what's in the way, not just symptoms. I want to understand you specifically, not a version of you that fits neatly into a box. My approach draws on CBT, psychodynamic work, DBT, IFS and trauma-informed practices. I bring flexibility to our work since therapy isn’t one size fits all. Some clients need structured skill-building, others need to process what's underneath the anxiety or the burnout, and for many it's both. We figure that out together and build a resilient foundation, so your life feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.
