Getting to know Samuel Bennett
Thanks for visiting! It’s not easy to find a safe, nonjudgmental, and compassionate space, particularly for those who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe having a therapist who is empathetic, shows unconditional positive regard, and is authentic is crucial to therapeutic growth. These factors are an integral part of how I practice therapy. My hope is that you leave your first session feeling supported, safe, and understood. I recognize that each client is unique, and therefore, your therapy needs to be tailored to the unique individual that you are. I currently practice from a Humanistic-Person Centered perspective, while integrating ACT and other evidence-based practices.
I specialize in working with teens, young adults, and adult clients. Regardless of who you are or how you identify, you deserve to be heard and empowered. My approach to therapy includes viewing you, the client, as the expert on your life. You have the answers within you; they may just be clouded at times. I see my role as a collaborator and guide, helping you understand yourself and your personality better, building off your internal strengths, and working with you to remove any obstacles that may be getting in the way of your overall well-being and happiness.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University, which has equipped me with a strong foundation in therapeutic practices and client-centered care.
Authenticity, compassion, connection, and validation are values that I strive to model in both my personal and professional life. The road to a better life and increased well-being starts with these values. I’d be honored to help you on your journey to increased well-being, life satisfaction, and overall happiness.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I take a holistic and humanistic approach with clients, drawing from different therapeutic modalities like ACT, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Relational therapy. I strive to create a safe, trusting, and collaborative relationship with all of my clients. It's important that you feel heard, and that I meet you where you are at, while also challenging you along the way. I believe that everyone's path to healing is unique.

I was worried about going to my fist counseling session, not knowing what to expect, and feeling very vulnerable. Sam has a very calming demeanor and he made me feel very comfortable sharing my personal thoughts & feelings. He is extremely empathetic and a great listener.
