Psychotherapist

Hi, I'm Zay. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor based in Texas, and I work with high-achieving adults who are exhausted in ways that are hard to explain to the people around them. Not burned out in a way that shows. Burned out in the quieter way, where you're still producing, still showing up, still functional, but something underneath has stopped recovering. You've optimized everything except that. My approach is somatic and body-informed. That means we don't just talk about what's happening, we pay attention to where it lives in the body, because that's usually where the real information is. I work with ACT, mindfulness-based, and trauma-focused methods, but the foundation of everything I do is nervous system safety. The body can't change what it doesn't feel safe enough to release. I specialize in burnout, men's issues, and life transitions. I have 13 years of clinical experience. Sessions are telehealth only, weekly or biweekly, at $175 per session. I don't work with insurance directly but can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. If something in this sounds familiar, a free 15-minute consultation is a good place to start.

Getting to know Samuel Isaiah (Zay) Bisset

Hi, I'm Zay. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor based in Texas, and I work with high-achieving adults who are exhausted in ways that are hard to explain to the people around them. Not burned out in a way that shows. Burned out in the quieter way, where you're still producing, still showing up, still functional, but something underneath has stopped recovering. What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't have to perform here. I won't ask you to slow down your whole life, but I will create a space where your nervous system can actually settle. Sessions are calm, focused, and free of judgment. We won't spend years rehashing the past. We'll slow down enough to hear what your body has been trying to tell you and build something more sustainable from there. Most clients come in skeptical. That's fine. You're used to performing. You don't have to here. A lot of people leave the first few sessions surprised by how much was quietly running in the background. I work with adults only, including individuals and groups. I'm queer allied, racially just, and transgender allied. If any part of your identity has made you hesitant to seek therapy, I want you to know that's something I take seriously.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a free 15-minute consultation so you can get a sense of who I am and what we might work on together. There's no pressure and no intake paperwork before we've even met. From there, if it feels like a good fit, we schedule an initial session to go deeper into what you're carrying and what you're looking for. Sessions are weekly or biweekly and move at a pace that works for you. My approach draws on somatic awareness, ACT, mindfulness-based methods, and trauma-focused work. What that looks like practically: I pay attention to what's happening in the body, not just what's being said. Burnout doesn't live only in your thoughts. It lives in the tension you can't release, the sleep that doesn't restore, the flatness that follows you even when things are going well. The goal isn't symptom management. It's clarity, regulation, and sustainable change. All sessions are conducted via telehealth, so you can work with me from anywhere in Texas.
