Psychotherapist
TX
I work with adults across Texas carrying more than they let on — anxiety, grief, burnout, a transition that hasn't settled into place. Often the people I work best with have examined their thoughts — sometimes examined their thoughts a lot. They understand their patterns, and may have tried techniques that worked. But they still find themselves in a life that doesn't feel right. That gap is what we work on: what matters to you, and what it takes to move that way. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas (#70825) with a master's in clinical/counseling psychology. Before opening this practice I worked in forensic psychology, where I saw how often good treatment stalls at insight. My work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which comes out of contextual behavioral science — a lens that asks what a behavior does for you, given your situation and history, rather than what it says about you In practice, sessions tend to be active. We spend real time clarifying what matters to you — not goals, which get finished, but direction. We work with what shows up in the moment rather than debating it. And we don't wait for anxiety, grief, or self-doubt to clear out before your life can start. I've trained in other models and draw on them where they fit, but I don't mix approaches that pull in opposite directions. Coherent care matters.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I was born and raised in a Belizean Catholic family. I learned love experientially, watching red and white Sacred Heart chaplet beads pass through my Granny's beautiful mocha hands. In the States I found the church was different from how I had experienced faith, and I found myself a welcomed wonderer in the Quaker tradition. These days I usually attend both Mass and Meeting. My faith is felt at Black Lives Matter protests, at immigration marches, and at the Pride parade. It is lived when I don't turn away — when I record the police, when I stand with the most vulnerable person in a room, and when I fight David-and-Goliath battles so that Black clients at a residential facility can get hair products that actually work for their hair. Gay bingo is the only bingo I know. I hold Excellence Benchmarks with Violet, a cultural competence credentialing platform, for LGBQ and BIPOC care. I work well with clients with all kinds of beliefs. I name mine so you know who's in the room with you.
