Getting to know Samuel Schrager

I provide individual therapy for adults and adolescents from a holistic and trauma-informed approach. My focus as a therapist is to create a calm, peaceful, and welcoming environment as we work together to gain the insight and tools necessary to achieve your wellness goals and find a sense of balance, joy, and fulfillment in life. My work is client-centered, heavily influenced by trauma research, and incorporates psychoeducation to give you evidence-based techniques to use outside of our therapy sessions to reduce distress. I have spent the last 10 years working with individuals from diverse backgrounds in New York City, Boston, and Albany, New York. I work collaboratively with clients on issues of self-esteem, panic, depression, grief and loss, addiction, work-related stress, family conflicts, and coping with environmental stressors. I have many years of experience supporting clients living with trauma, co-occurring substance use disorders, severe anxiety and depression, and a wide range of other disorders. My style is collaborative, caring, creative, respectful, warm, and practical. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where it is safe to grow and gain awareness and insight. I see each individual as a whole person with the potential to achieve their unique wellness goals and reach their full potential. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York, and a Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University.
