Getting to know Santwaa Covington

Feeling weighed down by relational difficulties, low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety? As a therapist with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia, I intimately understand these struggles and the cultural stigmas attached to them. It's time to lighten that load. I provide a safe space where you can explore your experiences and embark on your journey toward healing. Each person's path is unique, so I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet your specific needs. Together, we'll uncover how past traumas and emotional pain might still be affecting your present life and negatively influencing your relationships and self-perception. As a dedicated mental health therapist, I specialize in various therapeutic techniques designed to support your healing and self-recovery. My own struggles have granted me profound empathy and respect for others and their healing journeys. I've also witnessed incredible strength and courage in those I serve, inspiring my commitment to helping you overcome your own challenges. An unknown wise person once said, "We're only as mature as our most healed trauma."

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy is grounded in three principles that I hold as truths. 1. A good therapist is aware that they do not have the answers but rather the tools to help the client find the answers within. 2. Life is full of lessons that constantly repeat themselves. These lessons are designed to teach us the tools needed to be the best versions of ourselves. 3. EVERYTHING we go through is designed for our good. It is our job to pull the good out of challenges in order to grow into the best version of ourselves

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At our first meeting, I want to truly understand what brought you here. I often rely on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because of its transformative power. Together, we'll uncover how your thoughts shape your emotions. I'm here to support and guide you, helping you challenge those thoughts. Let's work side by side, paving your path to greater emotional peace and clarity.

I've been seeing Santwaa for couples counseling with my partner. She has been really helpful for us to work through some of our issues.
My husband and I’s first experience with Santwaa was wonderful. He really made us feel comfortable and ready to start our therapy journey with him!
Had a great 1st appointment with Ms. Covington. I have really bad trauma and she was great at explaining how trauma impacts people. I feel way better about what I'm going through. She is also really laid back and easy to talk to. I feel really hopeful about getting my trauma addressed in a way that I can move on in my life. Highly recommended!!
Santwaa's support has been crucial in managing my general mental health. Her sessions are always insightful, and I leave feeling more in control of my emotions.
I am someone who has been in therapy for a long time, but needed to make a switch to a new therapist and I am so happy I found Santwaa. We clicked right away.
Great visit. Ms. Covington spoke to me like a normal person and not like it was his job or he had to. One on one she shared wisdom and experiences from her life and profession in order to help me have perspective on things I needed help with in my life.
San listens to my struggles attentively, but more importantly she always follows up with thoughtfulness and practical solutions.
