Getting to know Sara Barroso

My practice is here to support adults struggling with disordered eating, body image issues, trauma, depression, and anxiety, which have impacted their relationships with others, themselves, and the way they see the world. I integrate a blend of somatic embodiment practices and traditional talk therapy to help unburden you from your suffering. I'm dedicated to helping individuals resolve their trauma using bottom-up approaches. I have extensive experience with modalities such as Brief Solution-Oriented Trauma Resolution, BrainSpotting, and Flash to address the body memory of trauma. It is important for me to create a space free from fatphobic and oppressive ideas and beliefs-one that fosters inclusivity for all individuals regardless of identity. Sometimes, my sense of humor may come out in session. Although therapy can be challenging and involve heavy topics, I believe it is important to be able to laugh when appropriate. The power of laughter is amazing! I hope you are able to laugh with me. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Westfield State University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, effective care.
