Sara Cato, LPC

Psychotherapist
SC
My name is Sara Cato, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Addictions Counselor, and a Certified Health Coach. I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology from Francis Marion University. My passion is to create a safe, judgment-free space to help guide people on a journey to overall wellness using their own personal strengths. I use many evidence-based practices; however, I believe each individual is unique, and I tailor my therapeutic approach to match the specific needs of my clients. I have the most experience using Cognitive-Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-based techniques. The clients I work with are adults who suffer from anxiety, ADD/ADHD, addiction, stress, difficult life transitions, and unhealthy relationship dynamics. I work with individuals of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, and religions. I strive to build the therapeutic relationship from the very first meeting so my clients feel comfortable. I want to create a welcoming space that encourages open and honest dialogue. I believe the relationship you have with your counselor is the most important part of therapy. My journey to become a therapist hasn’t been easy but has been incredibly rewarding. People fascinate me. I have always wanted to help others develop a better understanding of themselves and their behavior patterns, as well as guide them toward making healthier decisions. We will work together to develop your strengths and reach your goals. I like to discuss goals in the first or second meeting and revisit them often to see what progress is being made or if anything has changed. I focus on building therapeutic rapport with you. I gather as much information as possible early on to get a clear picture of who I am working with and how best to guide you on your journey to wellness.
