Sara Jane Piersainvil, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NJ
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of populations in various mental health settings. I've supported individuals from different backgrounds, ages, and life circumstances, including those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and life transitions. These experiences have helped me understand that everyone's story is unique, which is why I believe in being flexible and open in my approach to therapy. It's important to me to meet each person where they are and offer support that truly fits their needs, no matter who they are or what they're going through. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Rutgers–New Brunswick and a Bachelor's degree from William Paterson University, which have provided me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is all about collaboration. We'll work together as a team to explore what's going on in your life and find the strategies that work best for you. I'm here to support you through the ups and downs, helping you build resilience and a stronger sense of self. I'm passionate about what I do, and I genuinely care about the people I work with. Being a part of your journey, seeing grow and overcome challenges, is something Im truly honored to be a part of.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we first start working together, we'll begin with an intake session. This is the chance for us to get to know each other and for me to gather important information about you. During this session, I'll ask about your background, current concerns, and any specific issues that brought you to therapy. We'll talk about your personal history, including previous experiences with therapy, and you physical health as well as your relationships and life circumstances. This helps me get a full picture of who you are and what you're dealing with. After the intake session, we'll move on to creating a treatment plan. This plan is a like a roadmap for our work together. It outlines the goals you want to achieve and the steps we'll take to get there. We'll decide together on the best therapeutic approaches to use whether it's Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, or a combination of methods. We'll also decide on practical details, like how often we'll meet. The treatment plan is flexible, and we'll adjust it as needed to make sure it continues to serve you well as you progress.
